The Hobbit Movie Trilogy Site

This is a brand new trailer for the Hobbit An Unexpected Journey.  It appears this trailer takes Bilbo and company as far as the ring and I believe the first film will likely end after they escape the goblin cave.  Check it out.

Rumor has it that Smaug will be making a eye catching appearance in the upcoming Hobbit trilogy…but an eye is literally about all we’ll be seeing in the first film. Benedict Cumberbatch, the voice behind the beast was very candid about his role in the first film stating “I think my eye might open at the end of the first film and then you’ll get the rest of me in the second.” And considering news recently came out about a third film; I presume he’ll be in the third as well, though it still remains a mystery as to what Peter Jackson plans on bringing to the final chapter.

Cumberbatch will be providing the movement and voice for Smaug via performance capture in the films. For those of you who are still trying to put all the pieces together, Smaug lives on the Lonely Mountain, guarding a vast amount of treasure that Bilbo and the others go to reclaim.

Now that we are made aware of the fact that Smaug doesn’t make a grand appearance until the second movie, some might wonder if Peter Jackson is stretching the story too thin. I have faith however. I think Jackson will surprise us with deeper story and more layers than expected. We’ll just have to wait and see when The Hobbit, An Unexpected Journey hit’s theaters on December 14^th!
